I have to say its a small wonder i was able to function that day...as i woke up to get ready after only 2 hours of sleep....following other nights in the days before, of only 3 or so hours of sleep.
I got ready at the hotel my mother and sister were staying while visiting for the wedding....the photographer came by around 6:30, as well as my good friend Krystalle who did my makeup. i was very clear in the fact that i wanted to look natural, and not too made up, as that's not me....she listened and did a great job, and i will always be thankful to her for that.
Just as i planned it, and just as i wanted it, i was an early bride :).
After the initial pictures were taken of me outside the church, i stood there, feeling a wide spectrum of emotions....happiness, excitement, amazed, humility, awe, gratitude....and the list goes on.
I stoos outside the main entrance to the church as the processional music started and the bridesmaids & maid of honor made their way to the altar.
Then there was my cue to walk in...as i stepped through the doors of Sts. Peter & Paul church that wonderful day, i was happier than i could possibly describe. I saw Julian waiting for me at the front...his face showing how much this day meant to him.
It was a brief but nice ceremony.
Julian's dad was involved in the ceremony as he is a deacon in the catholic church, and it was great to have him stand at the altar with us.
The ceremony went smoothly...We opted for the sand ceremony instead of the unity candle, as we wanted something more symbolic of our union, and something we would have for years to come.
All the elements of the ceremony took place without a hitch...Then we signed the marriage certificate, and it was official!!
The Monsignor announced as Mr. & Mrs. and we began our life as husband and wife, as we walked out of the church.
We spent a little time outside the church greeting guests and saying our thank you's before heading to Hope Gardens for our formals.
The formals session at Hope Gardens was fun, and we were both in such high spirits that it was all we could do to not grin like cheshire cats...lol.
The photographers took pics of us with our immediate families, as well as just the two of us, etc...moving us from one location to the other to capture us from as many angles as possible.
Time to head to the reception venue. The formals took a bit longer than we planned, and our guests were waiting for a little over an hour for us to arrive :/.
After we were seated, and general introductions and announcements were made, it was time for our first dance as husband and wife. We danced to Sting's My one and only Love :)
We all had a great time, and we were both really happy that the table arrangements we assigned were successful and everyone got along and had a great time.
After lunch was served and toasts were made, and the bouquet was tossed (which ended up with everyone dodging my bouquet and having it fall to the floor in pieces), and no one catching the garter....(no idea what was going on there), we had pictures taken with the guests and with family, and just hung out until it was time to leave.
I can honestly say, looking back on that day, that it was a great great day. The sun was out, everyone was happy and in good spirits and Julian and I were just so happy to be husband and wife.
Thanks to all who attended, and to the photographers for the work they did :)
