Hubby and I went hiking with a friend Mark on one of the Holywell trails last Saturday.
Quite a bit of rain fell during the week and even the night before the hike, so the rivers flowed freely, and we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to stop and take some shots.
The flora that grows along the way to Holywell and on the actual park grounds are just incredible.
We went on the Oakley trail, one of the long trails at Holywell, that ends with a waterfall. The hike was a great experience...lots of talk and laughter :)
The dew from the morning still lingered on leaves and plants along the trail. There were two points along the hike when I wished I had a macro lens...this was one of those times, but I made do with what I had.
We finally get to the waterfall and oh man, it was soooooo worth it.
Time for a snack...we sat around a table just above the waterfall and had our refreshments, while enjoying the day and the view around us. Mark was kind enough to take a few pictures of us :)
Time to head back to the car...when we got the car we decided to hang out in a little gazebo sort of place and enjoy the day a little more. We were all hesitant to leave Holywell because of the cool breeze that blew around us. We knew we wouldn't feel anything like that on the flat.
While hanging out at the gazebo, Julian brought my attention to a tree with really amazing flowers growing on it...
It was a fantastic day for a hike as well as a photo outing. I had such a great time that the exhaustion that followed soon after getting back into Kingston was well worth it.
